  1. Reflex Monthly Cups

    Announcing the Reflex Monthly Cups! Reflex has been in need of a more established competitive scene for some time. Competing at a high level in any game requires time and dedication. The goal of the Reflex Monthly Cups is to give those who have the drive to compete in duel the guarantee that their commitment will be rewarded. Our goal is not to provide two tournaments or ten tournaments, but to provide a sustainable framework for competitive and dependable Reflex duel tournaments that will continue as long as there is demand and people willing to organize them. Our target is to hold one tournament every two weeks, alternating between NA and EU. In other words: one duel tournament every 4 weeks for each region. RMC is a purely volunteer effort, but we will do our best to consistently meet this goal. VODs and highlights of the tournaments can be found at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCt3JBOnzAk4WD1dgnHGOvJQ Replay packs for each tournament will be provided in the result posts (see below, previous editions) We've made the decision to launch the Reflex Monthly Cups before the release of the 1.2 update. In the event that the 1.2 update is not released by the start of the first editions, the tournaments will be played on the 0.48.3 client build. The developers confirmed in August that the custom ruleset currently running on 0.48.3 servers will replace the current competitive ruleset in the next patch. The Monthly Cups will be played on this finalized custom ruleset. Download the 0.48.3 client before tournament day or you will not be able to participate! Map selection system : Use the 'roll' command in console to determine which player drops first. (The player with the highest roll is the roll Winner) W: Roll winner L: Roll loser BO3 : Drop(L)-Drop(W)-Pick(L)-Pick(W) - The remaining map is the tiebreaker map (Maps are played in order of picks) BO1 : Drop(L)-Drop(W)-Drop(W)-Drop(L) - The map remaining after drops is the map to be played Match reporting : Players must report their match on challonge using the pen button corresponding to their match or report the score to an admin on discord. Manipulating scores or reporting false scores will result in disqualification from the tournament. Scheduling : Players have 10 minutes to join the server and start the match once a server is assigned by an admin, but should start as soon as possible. Servers : Players will be provided and assigned to a server for each of their matches by an admin in the discord channel. Tournament matches must be played only on the provided server so that scores can be verified and replays can be easily retrieved. If matches are played on a different server than the one assigned, the results of those games will be nullified and the games must be replayed on the assigned server. Servers will be hosted in Frankfurt (Germany) and London (England) for EU editions. Servers will be hosted in Silicon Valley, Chicago, and New Jersey (USA) for NA editions. EU editions : EU vs NA matches will be played on a London server unless the EU player has a higher ping than the NA player. In case of a server disagreement, a Frankfurt server will be used. NA editions: NA vs EU matches will be played on a New Jersey server unless the NA player has a higher ping than the EU player. In case of a server disagreement, a Chicago server will be used. Spectators : Spectating tournament games on the servers is not allowed. Streamers, casters and admins are the only allowed spectators on the servers. Report it to an admin if you notice unapproved spectators. Disconnection/crash during a game : If one of the players disconnects from a game, he will automatically lose the game unless the other player agrees to a rematch (a full 10 minute rematch). Behavior : Unsportsmanlike conduct (harassment, flaming) to players, admins, casters, or spectators will result in disqualification from the tournament.   8. High Rising CTF

    http://steamcommunity.com/workshop/filedetails/?id=923562270 A week or so ago, I roughly finished converting to CTF, my old-ish duel map High Rise (http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=661471601 - many thanks to lumpp for helping me with ironing out this duel map, much of which has still held true in this new CTF version). It's had a few updates in the past week or so, to just try and clean things up a bit. Seems to have gained a bit of attention mostly over on the noobschleuder server, probably my most well received (or only) non-race map. So I thought I'd open a post up here to advtertise it a little, but more than that, so that there is a place to discuss its problems for me to fix should I need to in the not too distant future. It's hopefully best in 4v4, but 3v3 seems to go well, one person mentioned it's a bit of a clusterfuck in 5v5 but I think that might be ok for non-competitive pub games. This map has given me a little hope that ctf can still be enjoyed and played in public, and perhaps I may think about converting other duel maps into ctf, rather than making fresh designs from scratch.

  10. Map compression

    Yo. Recently played race server. Was voted some map with 500mb size. U know, it's take time (feels same long as soon^tm in this context). So, what about add some compression? Like pure map (lighting to be correct) is 586mb, zipped 491mb, rarred 381. Here for sure some simple to use and free library that u can integrate to client. So, add to publishing process compression. Sounds nothing hard, but giving feeliable good feature.

If you were to ever get disconnected in the middle of a match, you will automatically forfeit the current match. Opposing players may allow to restart the disconnected match if they agree to do so. Disconnections should be immediately reported to a tournament admin. The tournament is double elimination. All players will have the chance to compete in a minimum of two series. All series will be played in a best two out of three format. Grand finals will be a best of five. Map selection will begin with a roll in console, lowest roll wins first ban (Ban, Ban, Pick, Pick).     This is a small 1v1 map that I recently updated. I've worked on a lot, but have no idea how it actually plays. Any feedback on the look, flow, or general gameplay of the map would certainly be appreciated.   18. 3 man duel and matches interrupted

    So three bugs with matchmaking. Version #1.0.4 1. 3 man duels. Queued like normal, 3 accepted and everyone had their pick/bans. Match in question: The_Catalyst_under_score_Ezormer_13Mar2017_231715_0markers.rep I was sent to In Queue state after the game went live. Received a loss. 2. Being moved from an ongoing game to spectator in another ongoing game. No replays exist of the matches. Confirmed reports of others having this issue as well. Received three losses from this bug personally. Counts as a loss for both parties. Wish I had more info to give on this one. 3. This is more of a potential bug and might be due to connection issues. Join queue, pops, pick/ban, then does not load map or connect to server. Stuck on the loading screen. Received 6 losses from this bug. Again sorry for lack of information on this one.

Russian guys, who came to reflex from cpm, had decided to come back to "roots" and renamed our old Reflex-Ru channel to Promode-Ru channel. After a few months I and some ru reflex folks recreated the Reflex-Ru Channel and now we have a "bit" less players than before. Our tournaments are small and quite noobish, but we're looking forward to make them regular. We're looking for the ways to involve new russian players to our community.   22. Hey long time no see. I was an early user on Reflex and I really went crazy with it and made a single map that was great but I think it kind of got left behind as changes were added. But it seems that the game runs very stable now and I can consistently get 50 FPS. So I want feedback on my original map Crossroads... I sent it to map contests... I sent it to people that were reviewing maps but I never really got the good feedback I needed to make this map competitive. All I know right now is that it is kind of square and desperately needs rounding out. I do know there are themes and other stuff added to the game but it seems like I cannot get access to those for some reason... But I guess I can continue on and try to make some good pre-fabs to make up for that. Anyway here is a link to the map, I would love to get feedback as again I really just want to make is a great over all map that eventually can fit the quality needed to be included as part of the games map selection.   24. Mapping question

    Howdy folks. Got a bit of a two sided question here. Working on a training/duel map from the older Q1 days and I couldn't see to be able to get a working door. Are there no working doors? Specifically team based doors (one team can go through and the other can not). Not being able to make a proper door (like I wanted) - I opted to using teleporters. But same issue, I could not find a teamclip function that would allow TeamA to go though and not TeamB (TF days). Anyone have any input on how to get either a door or a working teamclip?     Multiplex Workshop 1MH, 1RA, 2YA, all weapons From the F-Zero GX Wiki: "A long course designed like one of the many lofty skyscrapers. The track is composed of a loop, a chicane, many straightaways, and a minefield in the second half of the course. Approximate Length: 16500 m Course Order: Ruby #5" Multiplex is a duel map with heavy focus on fluid movement and prediction projectiles. Ramps and jumps are placed in such a way as to tie the lower and upper levels together, making them distinct only in the main atriums. Mid-map is a "cross loop" where players can quickly change from low to high elevation to avoid opponents or to gain a height advantage. All "important" jumps to major items are designed to be of moderate difficulty, but every item can be obtained with no trickjumps through the use of a slower route. Any feedback is much appreciated.
