    Glad to see the poll errr on the side I would agree with. A tad too weak. Maybe eliminate close proximity cut-off of 85 then redo numbers all the way down.

    File naming needs to be tied to Steam, not game. Impossible to know who is who in a mountain of demos.

    Seems more a hotlap thing than an actual race. Make maps that you can't die on, and actually hold races. Maybe 10 races per map, live, vs each other. This of course complicates many things, but it seems like fun.

    This is the honest to gods truth... I don't like giving specific advice on maps because I want the maker to be free from too much influence, but I was totally thinking... DO NOT MAKE THE JUMP FROM BR TO OUTSIDE RAISED HALLWAY POSSIBLE -- and it that is exactly what happened. Weird. I was going to instead perhaps suggest to lower the ramp, but what was done will suffice. Seems a very good decision IMO! Seems much improved to me, but of course, this is just theory crafting. What do you think of the map now, compared to the early iteration? Have games improved or gotten worse?

    Maybe something to consider if you haven't already: lower the roofs on the 2nd story so some rocket splash from lower levels could do some damage. Maybe not everywhere, but YA seems reasonable. Just a suggestion. Probably doesn't matter too much either way.

    I was over thinking duel way too much. I noticed if I stopped playing like CS and go aggressive when stacked or nominally stacked, I do a lot better. Similarly, doing the slow quiet thing wasn't working either when moving to and fro. Moving about, jumping around like a maniac got me much better gains. But at my pathetic level doing the obvious aggression when it's right to do aggression (not on a spawn) just worked. So basically the less I thought, the better the result. I play way too much FFA to figure out the proper ebb and flow of duel. A couple months of dueling, I think I'd be quite a bit better. Maybe even slightly competitive. Timing isn't an issue at all. Got that on lockdown. I just never really got in the competitive mindset to actually bother with it too much.

    Guys, is there any place where the match results are posted, where demos are downloadable? In the future, these leagues must get rid of the "secret society" syndrome.

    I think that would be a great idea. Since I'm not good enough to know, I would sincerely be curious if that change happened, how you and others feel it plays. The area behind the RL and the GA above it seems a bit too large. And in general the scale of some of the hallways could be tightened up a bit. I can see where a lot of the thought came in on this map. You can see it on every angle. I think more people should play it. In general, if I could take a percent modifier to the scale of the whole map, I'd probably subtract 10% or something.

    I think the mid section is too "open". Why not wall off some of that stuff? Disclosure: I have not played a single duel on it. I'm not as good as anybody commenting on this thread. But it seems almost blatant that it would be too open and prone to too much rail. I do have experience with over designing maps in many other games though. Sometimes it's hard for the designer to see the forest through the trees. I've been very guilty of that, when making my maps.

    The single easiest method to make a map unique from the onset is item elimination. For example: No bolt. etc. It would be nice to get more of these in rotation. I'm surprised this hasn't been done yet. That or I'm ignorant of the general consensus that people really like infinite range, high damage, single fire, hitscan weapons. Or why not design maps that emphasize one weapon over another? For example a very tight map, with small hallways and no open spaces. I guess I'm somewhat puzzled that maps are designed so that everything has equal amounts of viability, and this is seen as a virtue. QW is retarded in that no new maps are being made/used but I think they have a good thing going with the absence of that long hitscan weapon.

    First, it would be best to get bots idling on official servers in team modes asap. The 1v1 self suicide has started. The try hards are meaningless. This needs broad appeal. Second, I see a pervasive thing happening where FFA Arena is more popular than FFA. How or why this is even possible, I have no idea. People would rather watch people play, than play. FFA is not an ideal mode, but it is far superior to FFA Arena. I'm disgruntled. That players are playing anything is a good thing however. Third, Instagib seems quite popular and people seem to like it. Therefore, I'll make a request: stake instagib. I can at least tolerate that That is all! (doubtless this has been suggested, doubtless it is being suggested again)

    I'd try to gently nudge in the "FFA warmup mutator" direction then. All weapons. Armor. You spawn with everything. But no sitting around like this is a round of CS. But hey, they like what they like. I'm just hoping they know about that option.

    A mechanism with fake money as a prediction market would be kinda cool and give visibility. Isn't the architecture of this already on ESR? Piggy back off them.
