  1. To celebrate the launch of this series I will be hosting a newbienight Sunday, March 18th! Information : http://forums.reflexarena.com/topic/4729-reflex-newbie-night-announcements/?do=findComment&comment=36884 Reflex itself is an extremely hardcore game, and yet we have such a great new player friendly community. It's something special to have both, and our responsibility to maintain that by investing in future competition and future competitors. These tutorials have been a long term project of mine where I've tried to incorporate everything I've learned from teaching players into a compete series that will give all the guidance necessary to become competitive at Reflex in a short period of time. Thank you to all the new players who indirectly (or directly) helped out with this series. Watching you guys improve at Reflex has been a ton of fun for me. This series is split into [Basics] and [Patterns] sets. Since the goal is providing the best tutorials possible, I will be releasing them in groups so I have the ability to improve the later videos based on feedback. [Basics] [Reflex Basics 1] Getting Started in Reflex [Reflex Basics 2] Introduction to Duel [Reflex Basics 3] Basic Item Play [Reflex Basics 4] Factors that Determine Fights [Reflex Basics 5] The Secret to Improvement [Patterns] [Reflex Patterns 1] Things that Matter in Duel [Reflex Patterns 2] All Starting Spawns [Reflex Patterns 3] The Catalyst Guide [Reflex Patterns 4] Pocket Infinity Guide [Reflex Patterns 5] Furnace Guide Link to Playlist : https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLoszoDtQjpErdTa8k21We228JOwZnkhRV Feel free to ask me any questions on discord and I'll answer as soon as I can - DazedSpartan#3488. If you are a new player, add me on steam and I will help matchmake you with other new players to play- http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198042185286 I encourage competitively minded players of all levels to participate in Reflex Monthly Cups- Most importantly: play more Reflex!
  2. Sushiflex ACE Cup

    A new Reflex Tournament format! Date: Saturday, March 10th, 2PM EST/20:00 CET Stream: http://twitch.tv/sharqosity Registration: Join the Sushi Discord and PM Sharqosity#0314 Explanation of the Rules: This format is based off of Starcraft's Proleague format. 2 captains will be chosen by the tourney admin at the beginning of the event: Captain 1 and Captain 2 will draft their teams: 1 - 2 - 2 - 1 + ( 2 - 1 etc.) until everyone has been drafted. Team members will each be given roles and split into 2 Discord text and voice channels. Here they can discuss strategy and who to put on what map The amount of maps/games played is equal to the amount of players on each team. The map pool will be announced after teams are drafted. Each team will decide a player to send to play on each map - each player can only be used once (not counting the ACE match). Each team will send their final player lineup for the map pool to the tourney admin. Once both teams are done, the match-ups will be revealed. Sharqcoin betting will be active during this event! Games will be played and streamed one at a time in the order of the map pool. All games will be played on the Sushi ruleset. Check #sushiflex-setup in the Sushi Discord if you need to get set up. Each map win for a team will net every member 10 Sharqcoin. The ACE Match: After all maps are played, teams will put forth one player of their choosing to play in the ACE match (any player on the team can be chosen now). The team that wins more maps is considered the official winner of the tournament. The ACE match will still be played at the end, and the winner of the ACE match will net his team 15 Sharqcoin each. If the teams have an even amount of players and both teams are tied after all maps are played, the ACE match will decide the winner of the tournament. Map pool MAY INCLUDE: The Catalyst, Phrantic, Outworld, QW Aero, Abandoned Shelter, and more if needed! Map pool explanation: We want to keep the map pool varied so drafted players are not only valued for their raw strength, but also their map knowledge and ability to adapt. The goal of the map pool is to let a range of different skills shine through, because we believe each player has something different to offer to the team's skillset. Note that maps in the list above may not actually be in the map pool, and maps not listed could. Registration: Players from all regions are welcome to register! It is imperative that you join the Sushiflex Discord on game day so you can communicate with your team and receive directions from the tourney admin. Since a traditional challonge page cannot accommodate for this type of format, simply PM Sharqosity#0314 on Discord to register, OR reply to this forum thread! Currently registered players: Volume, Jankygoatsmugla, lzr_dev, cozy, christian, Cthulhu, def, lko, puma, TheBennyFishel, BL, Svyt, Magikarp, rex Message from tourney host, Sharqosity: See you guys there! It'll be hype watching and rooting for your teammates. No real money prizepool this time, it's all for fun (do come and win your sharqcoin though). If you have any questions at all about the format, don't be afraid to ask and clarify. Think of this as a trial run for the format; if something doesn't work or can be improved, please provide suggestions for the next one!

  11. High Rising CTF

    http://steamcommunity.com/workshop/filedetails/?id=923562270 A week or so ago, I roughly finished converting to CTF, my old-ish duel map High Rise (http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=661471601 - many thanks to lumpp for helping me with ironing out this duel map, much of which has still held true in this new CTF version). It's had a few updates in the past week or so, to just try and clean things up a bit. Seems to have gained a bit of attention mostly over on the noobschleuder server, probably my most well received (or only) non-race map. So I thought I'd open a post up here to advtertise it a little, but more than that, so that there is a place to discuss its problems for me to fix should I need to in the not too distant future. It's hopefully best in 4v4, but 3v3 seems to go well, one person mentioned it's a bit of a clusterfuck in 5v5 but I think that might be ok for non-competitive pub games. This map has given me a little hope that ctf can still be enjoyed and played in public, and perhaps I may think about converting other duel maps into ctf, rather than making fresh designs from scratch.
  12. Wrong map in Competitive duel

    Simply we voted for Static and instead got Fusion, FUSION CARL! Often enough (similar cases with wrong maps) to get annoyed. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=915714203 https://reflexmm-149202.appspot.com/matchstats?replay={470F646A-16FD-44B3-8E03-F41C3F221B4A}
  13. Map compression

    Yo. Recently played race server. Was voted some map with 500mb size. U know, it's take time (feels same long as soon^tm in this context). So, what about add some compression? Like pure map (lighting to be correct) is 586mb, zipped 491mb, rarred 381. Here for sure some simple to use and free library that u can integrate to client. So, add to publishing process compression. Sounds nothing hard, but giving feeliable good feature.
  14. WRDM1 - Instant Momentum

    Hi guys, it's my first reflex map. I noticed that there's not so many DM maps out there and I decided to make deathmatch map. I playtested it with decent amount of players. Have fun! PS: Comments and critiques will be appreciated. Steam Workshop link Name: Instant Momentum [WRDM1] Type: DM Description: This is tight close-combat deathmatch map. 17. [1v1] Fata Morgana

    New duel map, needs lots of testing. Nothing is set in stone, it probably needs lots of adjustments to spawns, item layout and possibly geometry. Some info: 2xYA 1xRA 1xIC 2xRL 1xPG 1xSG 1xGL 1xMH http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=888460764 Also, thank you def, greed, ammaccabanana for the feedback and help!
  18. Lost Temple

  19. Space Station

    This is a small 1v1 map that I recently updated. I've worked on a lot, but have no idea how it actually plays. Any feedback on the look, flow, or general gameplay of the map would certainly be appreciated. Right now I'm not sure about the red armor room: I think it's too easy for the out of control player to sneak the armor from the cold storage hallway and then run back without being punished. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=850688407 Fun progress screenshots! :

  21. 3 man duel and matches interrupted

    So three bugs with matchmaking. Version #1.0.4 1. 3 man duels. Queued like normal, 3 accepted and everyone had their pick/bans. Match in question: The_Catalyst_under_score_Ezormer_13Mar2017_231715_0markers.rep I was sent to In Queue state after the game went live. Received a loss. 2. Being moved from an ongoing game to spectator in another ongoing game. No replays exist of the matches. Confirmed reports of others having this issue as well. Received three losses from this bug personally. Counts as a loss for both parties. Wish I had more info to give on this one. 3. This is more of a potential bug and might be due to connection issues. Join queue, pops, pick/ban, then does not load map or connect to server. Stuck on the loading screen. Received 6 losses from this bug. Again sorry for lack of information on this one.

Russian guys, who came to reflex from cpm, had decided to come back to "roots" and renamed our old Reflex-Ru channel to Promode-Ru channel. After a few months I and some ru reflex folks recreated the Reflex-Ru Channel and now we have a "bit" less players than before. Our tournaments are small and quite noobish, but we're looking forward to make them regular. We're looking for the ways to involve new russian players to our community. The last tournament was at September 2016. I was a bit off from reflex community, but went back after a few months when saw changing the reflex channel to promode. We decided to stay with previous map-pool and change the platform from challonge to goodgame.ru [good system of donations + this platform is used only by russians]. Sorry for my broken english. Also we need english-speaking caster to stream our event to english-speaking guys who would watch this. 25. Hey long time no see. I was an early user on Reflex and I really went crazy with it and made a single map that was great but I think it kind of got left behind as changes were added. But it seems that the game runs very stable now and I can consistently get 50 FPS. So I want feedback on my original map Crossroads... I sent it to map contests... I sent it to people that were reviewing maps but I never really got the good feedback I needed to make this map competitive. All I know right now is that it is kind of square and desperately needs rounding out. I do know there are themes and other stuff added to the game but it seems like I cannot get access to those for some reason... But I guess I can continue on and try to make some good pre-fabs to make up for that. Anyway here is a link to the map, I would love to get feedback as again I really just want to make is a great over all map that eventually can fit the quality needed to be included as part of the games map selection. Any help would be great!!! http://reflexfiles.com/file/65
